Mr. Yoshiyuki Kato started his career in 1991 with Panasonic Corporation with the product planning team for Lighting division, after graduating from Osaka institute of Technology in Japan. As Manager, he was involved in product, strategy and sales planning. After working across departments for ten years, he was appointed General Manager, Oversea Lighting Business Department of the company in 2012 where he overlooked and strategized the group’s lighting business in Professional lighting sector.
In 2013 he assumed the role of Lighting Director of Anchor Electricals Pvt Ltd. Even though fluorescent lamps were still the mainstream at the time, he was quick to declare his intention to enter the LED business and decided to exit the fluorescent lamp business. As a result, the lighting business has grown significantly and is now the next pillar of Panasonic Life Solutions India.
After that he took on the role of Managing Director of Panasonic Life Solutions Professional Lighting Business in 2020. Soon after, he was handed over the reins as President of Panasonic Life Solutions Turkey, where he achieves 1.6-time Sales growth in Turkey ,CIS and Europe market. Post his stint in Turkey, Mr. Kato took over his current responsibility of Managing Director of Panasonic Life Solutions India in July 2022.
Early in his life Yoshiyuki imbibed the basic approach of collective wisdom and active listening within him, two tenets he always uses in his work. His deep understanding of the product and its sales and marketing have always aligned with the company’s global vision to make human life simpler, safer and comfortable, by enhancing the consumer experience for both brands: Anchor and Panasonic.
He further wishes to contribute to the development of advanced technologies and successful experiences developed in Japan and abroad, and front run its expansion in India
With an aim to enable every Indian citizen to customize his or her own living environment, to lead more comfortable life, he is striving to network individual electrical installations and enhance the user interface.
Dinesh has been a part of Panasonic since its acquisition of Anchor Electricals over 13 years ago. He has played key role in transforming a family owned & managed Company to a professionally managed Japanese multinational, that has grown year after year in revenue and profits, with an increasing market share in each product category. His effort and contribution were recognized through a first time, special award given to him by the President, Panasonic Life Solutions, Japan in 2015.
He is now leading Panasonic into new geographies and new business for the Smart city infrastructure (viz. Solar rooftop EPC, Electric vehicle charging, Smart City lighting, Smart metering infrastructure) ; Energy Management & Saving products and systems and Housing products (viz. Modular kitchen, Wardrobe, Wall cladding tiles, Wooden flooring etc); in line with the emerging trends in India, South Asia, Middle East & Africa regions.
In a career spanning 33 years, in Manufacturing and Services companies; he has conceived and executed new businesses and has established manufacturing cum trading Joint ventures with British, American and Taiwanese companies. He also has an enriching experience in start-ups, being an initial part of two Tech Companies, one that pioneered “Cloud services” for Enterprise applications and another that pioneered Voice over IP and Managed hosting services in India.
Dinesh is a Mechanical Engineer from NIT Kurukshetra and MBA from IIM Kolkata. He also holds a Certificate in Export Marketing from the IIFT, New Delhi. He has been a member of the “Latin America” and “Customer Focus & Marketing” committees of CII and was a member of the IT Committee of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce. At present he is a part of the ET’s “India leadership council” and FIEO’s committee on FTA.
